The Interana cluster admin may want to receive email notification of system alerts and reports. You will need to configure a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service for email on the Interana cluster, using your preferred utility. This article demonstrates how to add an admin email address and password to the Interana database on the config node.
Adding an admin email address to the Interana database
The MySQL database resides on config node of an Interana cluster, so this is where you add an admin email address and login credentials. The email address must have a fully qualified domain name (FQDN).
To add an admin email address and password, do the following:
- Log in to the config node of your Interana cluster.
- Configure an SMTP service for email, using your site's preferred utility.
- Use the following command to add an admin email address to the MySQL database, substituting a valid email address for the example shown.
ia settings update query_api email_user firstname.lastname@example.org
- Use the following command to add a password for the admin email address, substituting a unique password for the example shown.
ia settings update query_api email_password example-admin-password
This is what was achieved and what was omitted in this howto.
