Interana includes the following default measures that you can use with queries and named expressions:

Measure Used in Description Notes
Count Events
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
A simple count of events matching the query.
Count Unique
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
A count of unique values within a column matching the query. This measure is valid for numeric and string data.

Sum
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
The sum of the numeric values of all results returned for a query.
  • Does not work with string columns
  • When used with session metrics, Interana sums per session for session IDs within the query's event filters.
Average
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
The average (mean) value of a given parameter over the specified time period.
  • Does not work with string columns
  • When used with session metrics, Interana averages per session for session IDs within the query's event filters.
Median
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
The median value (50th percentile) of a given parameter over the specified time period.

Does not work with string columns

Minimum
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
The lowest value that matched the query at any time over the specified time period.

Does not work with string columns

Maximum
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
The highest value that matched the query at any time over the specified time period.

Does not work with string columns

Percentile
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
The value at the selected percentile for a given parameter over the specified time period.
  • Does not work with string columns
  • Interana computes percentile metrics using buckets of fixed width to classify all values. The initial size of buckets is 1 and all input values are distributed into those buckets, creating new buckets when necessary. Once the number of buckets reaches a threshold of 10000, Interana increases the width of the buckets to 10 and combines adjacent buckets. At higher thresholds, Interana increases the width to the next power of 10 (100), and so on. Interana then computes a percentile value based on those buckets, and is precise up to a single bucket, limited by bucket width. Because bucket widths increase as a power of 10, this can result in percentile values being rounded to the nearest value of 10, 100, or larger powers of 10.
Ratios
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions
Ratios divide the result of one measurement by the result of another.

Does not work with string columns

First / Last
  • Query Builder
  • Cohorts
  • Metrics
  • Sessions

The First and Last measures return the value of a given column with the smallest (First) or largest (Last) event timestamp.

You can use the First and Last measures to build queries and create named expressions. The First/Last measures are included in the Measure list for the following views:

  • Time
  • Table
  • Number
  • Bar
  • Pie
  • Stacked Area Time
