Look for the “up arrow” icon in the upper-right corner. Click that arrow to open the chart controls.
Use these controls to change the time range for the queries (using the Start and End fields, or by clicking and dragging across the time bar at the bottom of the controls). You can also add a comparison to a prior time period (Compare Times). When you click Go, Interana applies the new time settings to all of the charts in the dashboard.
For example, you could set the start time to “4 weeks ago” and the end time to “now,” then compare those results to “1 week before.” The queries will now start at 5 weeks from the current data (“4 weeks ago” minus the “1 week before”), and, depending on the view, will have different ways of visualizing the comparisons.
You can add filters to limit the data included in the results. This lets you focus on the data that you’re most interested in. The filters that you set here override or add additional filters to the dashboard charts.
The important thing to know about filters is that you’re using your own data to filter the analysis. Each filter is based on a column of your dataset. Which columns you see, and which values are available, depend on what’s in your data. But don’t worry, you don’t need to know your data that well - start typing something that makes sense to you and Interana’s typeahead will show you valid options!
For example, to use a filter to include only users located in Los Angeles and New York, select the column “location,” then select the “is one of” option, and finally select “Los Angeles” and “New York” from the list. Click Go and that filter is applied to all of the charts in the dashboard.
One more thing: any changes you make to the time or filters are one-time settings and are not retained in the dashboards.
