This article demonstrates how to change the landing page a user sees after logging into Interana. This procedure allows you to direct users to a specific dashboard or queries upon login in the following steps:

  1. Identify the page you want users to see after login
  2. Apply the landing_url application setting
  3. Restart the query-api-server
  4. Check you work!

1. Identify the page you want users to see after login

In this example I show you how to direct users the following dashboard, instead of the default Explorer view page.

Identify the query string of the dashboard url:

This example uses the following URL:

https://myown.interana.com/?dashboard=dashboard-root-1&name=great%20dashboard

2. Apply the landing_url application setting

Now we need to add the application setting that specifies the redirection to the cluster configuration.

To apply the landing_url application setting, do the following:
  1. Log into the cluster.
  2. Enter the following command.  Make sure to enclose your URL in double quotes!
ia settings update webapp landing_url "YourURL"
  1. Verify that the setting was added correctly by using the following command to list the application settings:
ia settings list

Our example shows the following results.

webapp landing_url "?dashboard=dashboard-root-1&name=great%20dashboard"

3. Restart the query-api-server

The changes we've made won't appear until the query-api-server on the cluster is restarted.

To restart the query-api-server, do the following:
  1. Log into the cluster.
  2. Enter the following command.
iactl restart query-api-server

4. Check your work!

The last step is to verify that the new configuration settings were applied. To do this, log in to Interana with your user credentials. You should now be redirected to the landing page you have specified!
